The award given to CanaLink by the newspaper La Razón within the framework of the IV Business Excellence Awards, recognizes its work in promoting competitiveness and excellence in the service of exploitation and operation of submarine fiber optic cables.

Canalink, a company of the ITER group, has been awarded the “Leading Company in Submarine Communications” award in the IV Business Excellence Awards granted by the newspaper La Razón. The gala, which was held on January 26 in Madrid, hosted at the newspaper’s headquarters 19 companies that have contributed to the welfare of the country, and continue to do so.

The award highlights the trajectory of CanaLink, a public entity of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife and belonging to the ITER group, which in 10 years of history has become a leading company in the telecommunications sectors.

The CEO of Canalink, Mr. Carlos Suárez, collected the award on behalf of the entire team, explaining to the attendees the activity of the entity, its future projects and dedicating this recognition to all the staff of CanaLink itself and the companies of the ITER Group.

Canalink is a neutral telecommunications operator specialized in the exploitation and operation of submarine fiber optic cables. The main objective of the company is to position the connectivity of the Canary Islands on the world map, promoting competitiveness and excellence in service. In addition to connecting some islands regionally, it has several submarine systems that connect the Canary Islands with different territories, such as the Iberian Peninsula or Africa. The entity, although publicly owned, is 100% supported by its own resources as a result of its commercial activity.

Canalink seeks to become a reference as a neutral operator of submarine communications, for which it will continue to strengthen its team, infrastructures and projects. As already announced, in less than a year it is expected to connect the Canary Islands with Lisbon through a new submarine cable of the latest technology, which will provide new solutions and strengthen the network that CanaLink already has. In addition, the ITER group company has recently been awarded European funds within the CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) call for an amount of 23.4 million euros for the deployment of a new system of submarine fiber optic cables between Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, as well as for the realization of a study for new cables in the archipelago. This new system will bring robustness to the current network and will offer, for the first time in the history of the Canary Islands, an alternative to the dominant operator.

Canalink‘s objective for the future is to continue investing in new infrastructures, betting on a highly qualified team and going hand in hand with its customers, to position the submarine communications of the Canary Islands and, by extension, of Spain, in a strategic asset.
