A new thesis has seen the light of day thanks to the research carried out in the MACLAB-PV, a project that has contributed to boost R&D and innovation in photovoltaic cells at ITER. Last June 24th, at 11:00 hours in the Faculty of Physics of La Laguna, the ITER researcher Luis Manuel Ocaña González defended his thesis entitled “Encapsulation of Perovskite Solar Cells in Clean Room environment based on polymers”, obtaining the qualification of cum laude. Some of the research work collected in this thesis was already published in the two peer-reviewed scientific articles published in the framework of the…
The award highlights the Cabildo’s promotion of scientific and technological development and its efforts in environmental conservation. ITER has received this award from the CEOE-Tenerife in recognition of the social work it develops. The Minister of Innovation, Research and Development, Juan José Martínez, accompanied by the CEO of ITER, Begoña Ortiz, was in charge of collecting the award. The presentation took place on the occasion of the 46th Annual Assembly of the Tenerife employers’ association CEOE, where the study ‘Reconocimiento Social de la Empresa y el Empresariado Canario 2024’ (Social Recognition of the Canary Islands Business and Entrepreneurship 2024) was…
The long experience of the Department of Sustainable Architecture of ITER is at the service of the second year students of Architecture of the ULPGC. Since its creation, ITER has been committed to sustainable architecture and the promotion of bioclimatic techniques for use in hot climates. Proof of this is its macro-scale laboratory, the LivingLab Casas Bioclimáticas ITER. The research and dissemination work on the importance of bioclimatism in climates such as the Canary Islands has been a continuous premise in time for ITER. Yesterday, June 5th, the LivingLab Casas Bioclimáticas ITER received the visit of the second year students…
The examining board awarded Jonathan Felipe the highest grade of outstanding cum laude for his doctoral thesis, a work focused on the development of artificial vision techniques for the interpretation of 3D scenes. On May 24 was presented at the School of Engineering and Technology of the University of La Laguna the doctoral thesis entitled 3D Reconstruction based on U-V Disparity techniques in stereo vision systems. Robustness analysis and practical applications, carried out by our colleague Jonatán Felipe García, coordinator of the supercomputing department, and directed by Dr. Leopoldo Acosta and Dr. Marta Sigut of the University of La Laguna.…

The relationship with this entity is key both for sharing common objectives and for the geographical proximity of ITER to the port of Granadilla. ITER is committed to promoting the decarbonization of the maritime port sector by strengthening its relationship with the Net-Zero Sea Alliance. This has been made clear during a visit today (Tuesday) framed in the agenda of activities and workshops on financing programs, organized by the Net Zero Sea Alliance and the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to the ITER facilities. The visit started at the ITER visitor’s center where they were received by the…
Researchers from ITER´s Robotics and Automation team have begun test flights to validate the methodology for acquiring thermal images of wind turbines. The AEROGENIA project is in its initial phase, focusing on confirming that the proposed methodology meets the environmental conditions and specifications of the wind turbine models under study. Researchers from ITER’s Robotics and Automation team have started test flights to validate the flight methodology for acquiring thermal images of wind turbines.During the tests, a drone equipped with a high-precision thermal camera (Zenmuse H20T) was used to capture multispectral data of wind turbines. The main goal was to establish a…

The photographer took numerous snapshots of the ITER facilities as well as of some of its researchers. The head of ITER’s Wind Energy Department Guillermo Galván accompanied the photographer who is preparing an article for NATURE magazine about the work done by a researcher working on wind energy. During the visit, the head of the wind power department showed them the different sites where he performs his work on a regular basis. They visited the generation control center, contemplated the 5 wind farms of ITER from different locations, visited and were explained the operation of the wind tunnel and could…
