Overview of the project

Through this project (EQC2021-007035-P), the Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies (ITER) has acquired a Thermo Scientific HELIX MC PLUS 10K noble gas spectrometer.

This instrument is the second evolution of the multi-collector mass spectrometers initially designed for the simultaneous analysis of any mixture of noble gas isotopes, and represents the greatest technological advance in this field to date.

The scientific community potentially using the instrument corresponds to groups currently or in the future carrying out lines of research related to geophysics and geodynamics, the origin and internal development of the Earth and other terrestrial planets, the chemical and mineralogical behaviour of planetary materials, oceanography, climate and palaeoenvironment, palaeobiology and evolution, geodesy, tectonics, volcanology and related hazards and Earth resources.

The project EQC2021-007035-P has been funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union “NextGenerationEU”/PRTR, “Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Funded by the European Union – Next GenerationEU”.
