Project overview

Atlantic Area ports can become digitised renewable energy ‘laboratories’, preparing to supply clean electricity to ships and their concessionaires, and to facilitate connection and testing of renewable energy prototypes, taking advantage of local resources and proximity to the sea.

ENEPORTS proposes three demonstration pilots in the ports of Ferrol, Granadilla (Tenerife) and Leixões (Porto) to examine how digitalisation and AI can contribute to the efficient management of energy flows; and will study new decarbonisation strategies using hydrogen and a device combining wave, current, solar and wind power generation.

ENEPORTS will address administrative requirements; potential economic, social and environmental impacts; and technological challenges of operating hybrid systems with different sources and varying energy demands, with a focus on their orderly deployment.
