This visit to ITER is part of the Internationalization Plan of the municipalities of the island promoted by the Cabildo of Tenerife, for the development of actions that attract foreign investment.
The Institute of Technology and Renewable Energy (ITER), an entity under the Cabildo of Tenerife, has recently received the visit of 31 technicians from the Local Development Agencies of the municipalities of Tenerife in order to get to know the main activities and research lines of the institute, as well as to explore the potential of human and material resources to support the development of the internationalization programs of the municipalities.
The day began with a general introduction in the ITER visitor center, where it was explained how it has been growing and expanding its lines of activity in technological development and innovation, researching and developing new materials, processes and technologies, since its creation in 1990. During the tour, the municipal technicians had the opportunity to visit several ITER facilities, such as the Genomics laboratory, the D-ALiX datacenter and the ITER supercomputing center, as well as to know its data acquisition, monitoring and control system, of ITER’s own design and development.
The visit is part of the program of activities of the Internationalization Plan of the municipalities promoted by the Cabildo of Tenerife with the aim of promoting trade and attracting investment in the island. The objective is to incorporate the municipalities to the internationalization actions carried out by different administrations and entities, providing specific training to the personnel of the different municipal corporations adhered to the same and supporting the actions that can be developed in this sense.
The objective of the Internationalization Plan is to have a more competitive and dynamic island in the global scenario, where collaboration between institutions and companies plays a fundamental role in the promotion of economic development and the generation of opportunities for citizens.
