Recap Energy conducted a guided tour of the ITER facilities to learn about its main activities, services and R&D projects.
This visit is part of ITER’s business support strategy. RECAP, a Swedish company based in Tenerife, Spain, is a company specialized in the development of renewable assets. This visit is part of the program of activities that the company RECAP has organized for its work team in Spain, gathered at its headquarters in Tenerife. The visit to the ITER facilities was scheduled as an example of a reference center for research and development in Tenerife.
The objective of this visit was to show the work that ITER develops, mainly related to renewable energies. They showed special interest in the photovoltaic installations of self-consumption on the roof. ITER has several installations of this type, among them, the one installed in the D-alix building stands out. The D-alix is an Eco-Sustainable Data Center, selected as a finalist of the Data Center Dynamics Global 2017 awards, one of the most prestigious international awards in technology in which 27 countries participate. The D-alix has incorporated various energy efficiency measures, including the installation of an air conditioning system that takes advantage of the sea temperature to reduce the facility’s consumption. It also has an installation of photovoltaic solar panels on its roof that stands out for its integration to overcome the difficulties involved in the construction and adaptation to this type of centers. This plant contributes a high percentage of the datacenter’s consumption and, together with the rest of the Institute’s production, makes it possible to obtain a sustainable energy balance for the data center.
In addition to the photovoltaic installations, the delegation of Recap workers visited the Teide HPC supercomputer, the ITER Generation Control Center and the visitor’s center where they were able to approach the rest of the research and development areas in which ITER works.
Recap Energy is a publicly incorporated and registered entity in Sweden. In addition to its headquarters in Sweden, Recap maintains subsidiaries in Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Colombia. The company develops solar energy and energy storage assets in bankable sustainable portfolios for its investors. These assets comprise commercial and industrial rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems (C&I), ground-mounted PV projects (GM) and battery energy storage solutions.
The projects developed by Recap offer fully financed energy solutions to C&I clients who wish to participate in the global energy transition. In this way, the customer can focus on developing their own business while reducing their energy costs and increasing their energy security.
