Three decades promoting sustainable development and innovation
Founded in 1990 by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, we have established ourselves as a beacon of innovation and sustainable development. We specialize in renewable energies, engineering, telecommunications, environment and genomics, contributing significantly to the technological progress and competitiveness of Tenerife.
Our trajectory is marked by constant evolution, adapting to the demands of a society that requires sustainable and innovative solutions. This approach has enabled us to develop more than 200 R&D&I projects with partners across Europe and to act as key advisors to significant entities, including the European Commission.
From our first wind installation in 1990 to 68 MW of wind and 41 MW of photovoltaic capacity, we have been pioneers in the integration of clean energy, contributing 28.6% of the island’s total renewable energy. In addition, our infrastructures, such as the D-ALiX and specialized laboratories, are pillars that support our extensive research activities.
Committed to education and outreach, our visitor centers and educational tours have welcomed more than 10,000 people annually, demonstrating our commitment to community awareness and transparency.
By consolidating the ITER Group, we have grown substantially, achieving our goal of self-financing through energy sales and consulting, reaffirming our position as a leader in R&D&I at the intersection of Europe, America and Africa.

Our mission is to promote sustainable development and innovation in all our areas of activity. We focus on maximizing the use of natural resources in renewable energy, overcoming geographic barriers through advanced engineering and ICT, and mitigating natural hazards, especially volcanic hazards.
