In addition to the tests related to the company’s own projects, ITER’s wind tunnel performs tests for third parties, which can be carried out in two different ways:
- Wind tunnel rental by the hour: this modality is appropriate for those customers who have experience in performing wind tunnel tests. In this case, the installation is rented together with the available instrumentation and a technician who will be in charge of the wind tunnel operation. The client will be in charge of the programming and execution of the tests, as well as the analysis of the data collected. In this case, the installation of the model in the test chamber can be hired separately to be carried out by ITER personnel.
- Testing under offer: suitable for clients with no experience in this type of work, this modality offers the execution of a complete project under a closed offer. In these cases, the wind tunnel staff is in charge of scheduling and carrying out the tests, as well as the preparation of a report of results and conclusions after the tests.
ITER also has a Modeling Workshop where the necessary models for the tests can be made.
