ITER carries out software development activities in the framework of R&D&I projects in collaboration with other entities, for ITER’s internal use or under contract to third parties.

Applications
Audiovisual solutions
The development of audiovisual solutions at ITER began in 2010 with the development of the user interface and the deployment of IP TV in the company’s bioclimatic housing.
However, its most notable activity emerged in 2014 following a proposal from the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife for the development of a multimedia virtual room with an online presence to provide comprehensive information about its management and activity to citizens in the form of an online television channel, Tenerife TV.
This activity increased in 2018 when the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife proposed taking a further step and expanding the project to Tenerife TV, a DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) and OTT (Over The Top) channel focused on education and culture for dissemination to the population of Tenerife. This DTT channel has the unique feature of being technologically innovative in the television sector; a broadcast and programme continuity system specifically developed in a fully virtualized environment, a singularity that makes it unique in Spain, provides added value, and allows the system to be offered as SAAS (Software as a Service).
Adapted technologies for people with disabilities
Products such as DiLO, Advant +, Tango:H or adapro developed in collaboration with different entities, within the framework of R&D&I activities, provide tools that enable an improvement in the quality of life of people with special needs, and for whom technology provides support in their daily activities.
SCADA system
The development of supervision applications has arisen naturally as a complement to ITER’s activity in the installation, operation and maintenance of power generation facilities. This has provided us with an extensive knowledge base and a set of state-of-the-art applications and tools for communication, supervision, control and information analysis of a wide range of electrical systems.
Specific control systems
As a fundamental element of some of the R&D&I projects developed by the different areas of ITER, software applications are deployed for the control, monitoring and management of self-guided autonomous vehicles; prototypes of solar aircraft or electric cars. The innovative nature of the company and the need to be in permanent contact with the latest technologies allows the development of systems such as a passive system for controlling people which, by means of facial recognition, detects intrusions by people outside the company or acts according to their presence control, successfully resolving 90% of the recognitions it carries out.
Comprehensive solutions
ITER’s knowledge base and multidisciplinary expertise in various areas has guided software development towards the construction of complex solutions that interconnect diverse hardware and software environments.
e-Government and Open Government
ITER’s close relationship with the Cabildo de Tenerife makes the development of solutions for Public Administration another of the company’s fundamental pillars. Under this premise, corporate websites have been implemented for several City Councils on the Island of Tenerife, in some cases integrating e-government.
In the field of Open Government, and within the international framework to provide public administrations with elements that favour the transparency of their management, the on-line television platform of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Tenerife TV channel, has been deployed, which allows live streaming of the plenary sessions of the Island Corporation and any other important event, while at the same time storing and categorising the audiovisual material of the Cabildo to make it available to the public.
On the other hand, a collaborative portal has also been developed to achieve internal transparency through the creation of the permanent section ‘Cabildo Abierto’ on the Corporate Intranet and within the scope of the Island Corporation’s open government policies.
Consultancy work has also been carried out for the creation of the Cabildo de Tenerife’s data map, aimed at publishing content online under the ‘Open Data’ initiative. Furthermore, regarding ‘Transparency,’ an analysis of the information to be published in accordance with current transparency legislation was conducted, culminating in the development and launch of the Insular Corporation’s Transparency Portal.
Business management applications
The need to interact with ITER’s own management at all levels triggers the need to operate on specific applications present on the market; parameterising, developing modules and even connection applications with these environments. In this way, administrative management systems have been connected with project management, document managers, GIS tools, Business Intelligence tools, etc.
