Photovoltaic module factory

Due to the requirements of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables for its projects, a factory of photovoltaic modules has been started up, which not only allows supplying ITER with its needs, but also allows continuing and expanding the research that the Institute has been developing in this field.

The factory is located in a building 125 meters long and 20 meters wide divided into three sections, one for the storage of raw materials, a second for manufacturing and the third for the storage of photovoltaic modules. In total there are 2500 m2, 1500 dedicated to storage of raw materials and finished photovoltaic modules, and 1000 to the manufacturing area, in which 2 assembly lines are distinguished, north and south.

Each line consists of two cell welding machines, a cell positioning robot, tables for glass placement and module inspection, and a laminating machine to form the module. Both lines converge in a machine dedicated to the testing and classification of the modules prior to the placement of the aluminum frame and packaging.

In 2008, this photovoltaic module factory was put into operation at the ITER facilities. The experience of the operators and the deepening in the knowledge of the machinery has allowed us to have the capacity to manufacture 60 MW per year with full guarantees of quality in the work and in the final product.
