MODELING WORKSHOP

ITER has a modeling workshop for the fabrication of the mock-ups to be tested in the wind tunnel as well as prototypes developed in-house.

Capabilities

  • CAD/CAM technology: three-dimensional modeling and manufacturing of prototypes, molds and various tools.
  • 3D printing: additive manufacturing technology with thermofusible materials, especially suitable for the manufacture of small prototypes.
  • CNC milling machine: used in the manufacture of tools and prototypes in medium/high resistance materials such as plastics, wood, aluminum, copper, etc.
  • Composites: together with the ability to make tooling with CAD/CAM technology, the workshop has various tools for making the necessary tools for the manufacture of parts and molds in the composites technique, using epoxy and polyester resins with fiberglass, carbon and Kevlar reinforcements.

The workshop works in conjunction with the maintenance department when the requirements exceed the capabilities of the modeling shop, having a workshop for metal structures, machining shop, aluminum and wood carpentry staffed by highly experienced professionals.
