The Institute of Technology and Renewable Energy (ITER), an entity under the Cabildo of Tenerife, has been distinguished with the“Best Public Initiative 2024” award granted by the Official College of Graduates and Technical Telecommunications Engineers of the Canary Islands and the Canary Islands Association of Engineers in Information Technology and Communications (COITTCAN/ACITICS).
The Councilor for Innovation, Research and Development, Juan José Martínez, was in charge of collecting the award during the celebration of the XV ICT Day held this weekend in La Laguna. Mr. Martínez is grateful for the award “which is the result of the work carried out by all the team that integrates ITER. It is the international reference center in the promotion of research and technological development works related to the use and employment of renewable energies and it has been deploying an intense activity in different matters related to technology, submarine optical fiber, satellites, genomics and environment”.
Juan José Martínez points out that “the President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, has set us important challenges within the Innovation area and this award is an endorsement of the work we do every day in ITER. We are grateful for the distinction and we extend it to all the staff of the different areas that integrate it.
The ACITICS awards distinguish each year the “Best Public Initiative”, “Promotion of STEAM vocations” and “Engineer of the year” in order to make visible the work of the group in favor of society and its transformation.
The ICT Day, organized jointly by the Canary Islands Association of Graduates and Engineers in Information and Communication Technologies (ACITICS) and the Official Association of Graduates and Technical Telecommunications Engineers of the Canary Islands (COITTCAN), is a unique space to reflect on the impact of technology on society, celebrate the achievements of the sector and strengthen professional networks.
