Wind Tunnel testing
Innovative improvements to the wind tunnel, to its construction, power unit and control systems, make it highly competitive in cost and performance. The tunnel has a range of applications, namely:
- Aeronautics
- Civil engineering
- Architecture
- Renewable energies
- Sport training
- Agricultural R+D
In addition to the testing of ITER’s own projects, the wind tunnel is available for use by third-parties, in two modalities:
- Rental by the hour: This modality is suitable for customers who have experience in conducting wind tunnel tests. It involves the renting of the facility, the available instrumentation and the support of a technician who will be responsible for conducting the test. The customer will be responsible for planning and conducting the tests, and for analysing the data collected. However, the process of installing the model in the test chamber, on the part of ITER staff, can also be arranged separately.
- On-demand services: Suitable for clients with no experience in this type of work, this modality provides a complete project under a comprehensive arrangement. In these cases, wind tunnel staff are responsible for preparing and conducting the tests and for producing a report on the test results and conclusions to be drawn.
ITER also runs a workshop for producing the models for testing.
