With this event starts the program of activities that will be developed over the coming months on the occasion of ITER´s 25th anniversary. 

The Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies celebrates 25 years as an international centre of reference for research into renewable energies, engineering, telecommunications and the environment, as well as in other facets of interest for the improvement of the socio-economic development of the archipelago.

The anniversary took on September 16th and was chaired by the President of the Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Carlos Alonso; the President of ITER, Ricardo Melchior; the director of the Canary Agency for research, innovation and information of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Miranda; the Mayor of Granadilla de Abona, Jaime Gonzalez Cejas, the director of the ITER, Manuel Cendagorta-Galarza and the President of the World Council for Renewable Energy, (WCRE), Wolfgang Palz.

The celebration, which began with the words the authorities continued with the projection of a short video on ITER and a presentation about ITER´s journey since its opening in 1990 given by ITER´s director.

After the graphical explanation and the discourses framed in the Conference Room of the Visitor´s Center, the celebration continued outside with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and the planting of 25 olive trees by the staff´s children.

This commemorative event starts the program of events and activities that ITER will develop in the coming months on occasion of the celebration of its 25th anniversary.
