Wide program of activities in the framework of the celebration of the EU Sustainable Energy Week

ITER was actively involved in the celebration of the EU Sustainable Energy Week, organizing their traditional open days and participating in the event “EUSEW Canaries 2016”.

ITER participated, once again, in this European initiative with a program of guided tours of its facilities. The open days were held form the 14 to the 24 of June, 2016, with the aim of promoting social awareness about the positive impact of renewable energies in a global scale and, specifically, its importance in isolated territories and Islands.

During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to travel through ITER´s 25 years of history visiting facilities such as the Experimental wind platform which are not normally open to the public. Attendees could also learn about the role that ITER and AIET, both subsidiaries of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, play in the development of renewable energies on the island of Tenerife, as well as their educational activities related energy sustainability and efficiency.

More than 200 people participated in this year´s open days where we received the following groups: Programa de Formación en Alternancia con el Empleo L-Urban of the townhall of Adeje, la Asociación AMISUR of San Miguel, el CEIP Puertito, the training programme FEMETE, the Asociación de mujeres Damana, a group from the townhall of San Miguel, the Programa de Formación “Fomento TIC” of the Townhall of Guía de Isora and a group from Cáritas.

In addition, within the framework of the celebration of these weeks in the Canary Islands, our director, Mr. Manuel Cendagorta, participated with the presentation “Implementation of renewable energies in the Canary Islands” on the first day of the event “EUSEW Canaries 2016” organized by the computer portal EnergyHub.es in TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In this event, which was divided into three days in Gran Canaria and Tenerife (21, 22 and 23 June), addressed issues such as energy efficiency, renewable energies, utilities and marketers of energy, energy training, systems management, r & d and success stories of companies and institutions in the sector.
