ITER collaborates in the celebration of the 2016 International Conference on Big Data from Space – BiDS’16, organized by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife and the Parque Científico y Tecnológico (PCTT), with which the Cabildo attracts the space community and Big data to the Canary Islands, within its strategy TF Innova’s promotion of the culture of innovation technology transfer and scientific and technological dissemination.

This conference will be held from 15th to the 17th of March 2016 in the Auditorium Adam Martin, sponsored by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife. The Conference is jointly organized by the European Space Agency – ESA, the Joint Research Centre JRC of the European Commission, and the European satellite centre of the Union (SatCen). Besides ITER´s collaboration, the conference also has the support of the Parque Científico y Tecnológico (PCTT), the Institute of Astrophysics of Canarias (IAC), the University of La Laguna, Santa Cruz City Council and other Spanish and European entities.

The conference will bring together researchers, engineers, developers and users in the area of Big Data in the space sector. The spotlight is on the lifecycle of the data, ranging from the acquisition of data transmitted by terrestrial and space sensors to the data management, analysis and exploitation in the fields of Earth observation, space, space engineering, space weather science

The programme highlights the technology transfer and the promotion of meetings between industry, technological development centres and the local business network, all sponsored by PCTT who will organize networking sessions and a technological showcase that demonstrates the application of the aforementioned technologies.

In addition, an within the framework of the conference, there will be a technical visit to ITER and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias on March 18th to which attendees may participate upon registration.
