El proyecto SEAFUEL continúa con su tercera reunión transnacional de socios en Madeira

Los socios tuvieron la oportunidad de discutir sobre el avance del proyecto y asistir al seminario «Hidrógeno para el transporte» organizado por AREAM.

El 14 y 15 de marzo, representantes de las organizaciones socias del proyecto SEAFUEL, un proyecto europeo del programa Interreg Espacio Atlántico, se reunieron en Funchal, Madeira, para asistir a la 3ª Reunión del Proyecto y al seminario con actores clave sobre el uso del hidrógeno para el transporte. La reunión y el evento, organizados por la Agencia Regional para la Energía y el Medio Ambiente de la Región Autónoma de Madeira (AREAM), tuvieron lugar en el Instituto de Vino, Bordado y Artesanía de Madeira en Funchal.

Durante el primer día de la reunión, los socios abordaron la implementación de las actividades y tuvieron la oportunidad de discutir y planificar las próximas actividades previstas en el plan de trabajo del proyecto.

Durante el segundo día, los socios asistieron al seminario “Hidrógeno para transportes” organizados por AREAM con actores clave del sector en el Instituto do Vinho, Bordado e Artesanato da Madeira – IVBM. El seminario, que comenzó con una presentación del proyecto SEAFUEL, contó con la participación de las empresas Galp (TBC), CaetanoBus y Aquartera, y del Centro Europeo de Energía Marina (EMEC), que presentaron su visión sobre el uso del hidrógeno en el transporte, haciendo especial hincapié en el transporte terrestre y marítimo.

Con un presupuesto total de unos € 3,5 millones, el proyecto SEAFUEL busca utilizar los recursos renovables del Espacio Atlántico para impulsar la flota de transporte local, apoyando así el cambio hacia una economía baja en carbono. Se probará en las Islas Canarias, Madeira y las Islas Aran y utilizará la experiencia e infraestructura de los socios en materia de energías renovables, a saber, solar, eólica y marina, para demostrar la viabilidad del hidrógeno como combustible para ser utilizado por las autoridades locales de transporte.

SEAFUEL project continues with the third transnational partners meeting in Madeira

Partners had the opportunity to discuss the progress of the project and attend the open-workshop “Hydrogen for transport” organized by AREAM.

On March 14th – 15th representatives of SEAFUEL project’s partner organizations, an European Interreg Atlantic Area project, met in Funchal, Madeira, in order to attend the 3rd Project Meeting and a workshop with stakeholders on hydrogen for transport. The meeting and the event, hosted by the Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (AREAM), took place in Madeira Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Crafts in Funchal.

During the first day of the meeting partners addressed the implementation of activities and had the opportunity to discuss and plan the methodology of coming activities in the project work plan.

On the second day, partners attended the stakeholders events “Hydrogen for transports” organized by AREAM at the Madeira Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Crafts (Instituto do Vinho, Bordado e Artesanato da Madeira – IVBM) within the frame of the second day meeting session. The workshop, which started with a presentation of SEAFUEL project, included the participation of the companies Caetano Bus and Aquartera, and the European Center for Marine Energy (EMEC) that presented their vision on the use of hydrogen in transport, with an essential focus on land and sea transport.

With a total budget of € 3,5 million, SEAFUEL project aims to use the renewable resources of the Atlantic Area to power the local transport fleet, thus supporting the shift towards a low carbon economy (LCE). It will be tested in the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Aran Islands and will use the experience and infrastructure of the partners in the field of renewable energies, namely solar, wind and marine, to demonstrate the viability of hydrogen as a fuel to be used by the local transport authorities.
