{"id":39622,"date":"2022-05-31T13:45:12","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T13:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/\u200bnew.iter.es\/iter-reinforces-its-commitment-to-science-outreach-and-public-awareness\/"},"modified":"2022-05-31T13:45:12","modified_gmt":"2022-05-31T13:45:12","slug":"iter-reinforces-its-commitment-to-science-outreach-and-public-awareness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iter.es\/en\/iter-reinforces-its-commitment-to-science-outreach-and-public-awareness\/","title":{"rendered":"ITER reinforces its commitment to science outreach and public awareness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>During the months of May and June, the Institute of Technology and Renewable Energy (ITER), an entity under the Cabildo of Tenerife, participates in numerous public and scientific events of reference.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>These actions contribute to the fulfillment of one of the Institute&#8217;s founding objectives, that of disseminating and sharing scientific content related to its areas of action, transferring its R&amp;D results and promoting public awareness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIFERIAS DE LA CIENCIA Y LA INNOVACI\u00d3N EN CANARIAS 2022<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the month of May, a thousand members of the school community participated in the activities organized by ITER in the <strong>Miniferias de la Ciencia y la Innovaci\u00f3n en Canarias 2022<\/strong>, through the MACLAB-PV and SEAFUEL projects, co-financed by the INTERREG MAC Program 2014-2020 and the INTERREG Atlantic Area Program 2014-2020, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Some twenty schools from the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Palma, as well as from the province of Gerona, participated in the 13 sessions of the events \u201cMACLAB-PV Workshop &#8211; Game ISLA 100% Renewable Energies in isolated territories\u201d; \u201cMACLAB-PV Workshop &#8211; Through the walls\u201d; MACLAB-PV Workshop \u201cWe open the doors of the SiCellLab laboratory\u201d; and \u201cSEAFUEL Workshop &#8211; Gymcana in the first hydrogen plant in the Canary Islands\u201d, learning about renewable technologies, energy efficiency and hydrogen technology in a playful way.<\/p>\n<p>The Miniferias are the flagship event for scientific dissemination in the Canary Islands, and are promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI).<\/p>\n<p><strong>CELEBRATION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2022<\/strong><br \/>\nOn the other hand, on the occasion of <strong>World Environment Day 2022<\/strong>, ITER will participate in two events aimed at sustainability and public awareness in the municipalities of Granadilla de Abona and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.<\/p>\n<p>The Institute, through the public awareness campaign of the MACLAB-PV project, will have a stand at both events, where the \u201cEnergy Party\u201d workshop will be held with the students attending. In this activity, the role and importance of renewable energies and energy efficiency in the conservation of the environment will be addressed in a playful way. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<strong>World Environment Day Granadilla 2022<\/strong>\u201d, organized by the City Council of Granadilla de Abona and the Fundaci\u00f3n Recicla, will be held on Friday, June 3 at the Plaza de La Cultura de San Isidro in Granadilla de Abona. For its part, the \u201c<strong>Ambi\u00e9ntate<\/strong>\u201d fair, organized by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council through the Fundaci\u00f3n Canaria Santa Cruz Sostenible, will be held on Friday, June 8 in the Garc\u00eda Sanabria Park in the capital of Tenerife. <\/p>\n<p><strong>TRANSFER OF R&amp;D RESULTS<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the month of May, the Institute has also carried out numerous actions aimed at the transfer of knowledge and R&amp;D results, such as the presentation of the research lines framed in the European project MACLAB-PV and linked to the new ITER Mobile Energy Efficiency Laboratory (LAVE) at the <strong>Workshop \u201cBIM Cloud Platform for Building Renovation<\/strong>\u201d, organized by the European project ENCORE and coordinated by the University of La Laguna.<\/p>\n<p>Another of the R&amp;D lines promoted by this European project, linked to ITER&#8217;s Photovoltaic laboratory (SiCellLab), has been presented in the eleventh edition of the <strong>11th International Doctoral School of Energy Conversion and Saving Technologies of<\/strong> the University of Riga. In this international event, in which ITER researchers participated as guests, there was also a presentation about ITER&#8217;s scientific projects and infrastructures. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, it is worth mentioning the participation of researchers from the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands and the Environment Department of ITER with more than 50 scientific communications in the largest European International Conference on Earth Sciences \u201c<strong>EGU General Assembly\u201d<\/strong>. In this 2022 edition<a href=\"https:\/\/www.egu22.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(https:\/\/www.egu22.eu)<\/a>, held from May 23 to 27 in Vienna, Austria, 14,317 researchers from 116 countries participated. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the months of May and June, the Institute of Technology and Renewable Energy (ITER), an entity under the Cabildo of Tenerife, participates in numerous public and scientific events of reference.
