{"id":39611,"date":"2022-11-10T08:43:59","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T08:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/\u200bnew.iter.es\/the-maclab-pv-project-led-by-iter-selected-as-a-best-practice-for-large-scale-replicability-in-africa\/"},"modified":"2022-11-10T08:43:59","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T08:43:59","slug":"the-maclab-pv-project-led-by-iter-selected-as-a-best-practice-for-large-scale-replicability-in-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iter.es\/en\/the-maclab-pv-project-led-by-iter-selected-as-a-best-practice-for-large-scale-replicability-in-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"The MACLAB-PV project, led by ITER, selected as a best practice for large-scale replicability in Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The project was presented as a good practice at the Sustainable Mobility and Climate Week 2022 in Dakar (Senegal) and has been published on the Climate Chance portal&#8217;s virtual Climate Action Map.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate-chance.org\/en\/get-involved\/climate-chance-summits\/week-for-sustainable-mobility-and-climate-2022\/\"><strong>Sustainable Mobility and Climate Week 2022 (SMDC)<\/strong><\/a><strong>is<\/strong> an international event promoted by the Association \u201cCooperation for the Development and Improvement of Urban and Peri-urban Transport\u201d (CODATU) and the \u201cClimate Chance\u201d Association, with the collaboration of the Executive Council of Urban Transport of Dakar (CETUD). The event, a precursor event to #COP27, was held from October 3 to 7, 2022 in Dakar, bringing together 1,500 stakeholders and experts related to mobility, energy and climate from 40 countries. During the event, a multitude of workshops and plenary events were held, offering the opportunity to share the challenges of sustainable mobility and empowering climate action in African territories. It is worth noting that during SMDC 2022 a specific session of the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa was held, where the most urgent climate change issues at the local level in the region were addressed, such as adaptation to climate change through energy efficiency.   <\/p>\n<p>Within the framework of this international event, the \u201cPich Corner\u201d session was organized, in which experts from the sector presented the projects and initiatives previously selected by the Organizing Committee as <strong>Good Practices of projects and initiatives related to Climate Change and energy, which could be replicable on a large scale in Africa.<\/strong> MACLAB-PV was one of the 56 projects selected out of more than 200 submitted, for its contribution to the improvement of R&amp;D capacities and infrastructures related to renewable energies and energy efficiency in Senegal.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maclabpv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MACLAB-PV project<\/a> was presented as a Best Practice at the SMDC22 Pitch Corner on October 6 by the Senegalese partners of the project: the Centre d&#8217;Etudes et de Recherches sur les Energies Renouvelables (CERER &#8211; University of Dakar) and the Agence pour l&#8217;Economie et le Ma\u00eetrise de l&#8217;Energie (AEME). The presentation (in French) is available at the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate-chance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/36-maclab-pv.pptx.pdf\">link<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, the project has been integrated into the <strong>virtual Climate Action Map<\/strong> of the \u201cClimate Chance\u201d portal (Cartography for Climate Action), in both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate-chance.org\/bonne-pratique\/maclab-pv-projet-rdi-technologies-reforcement-capacites-enr-efficacite-energetique-canaries-senegal\/\">French<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate-chance.org\/en\/best-pratices\/maclab-pv-project-rdi-technologies-and-capacity-building-in-the-sectors-of-renewable-energy-and-energy-efficiency-canary-islands-senegal\/\">English<\/a>. This platform highlights climate initiatives carried out worldwide, identified as good practice by Climate Chance. <\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maclabpv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MACLAB-PV project<\/a> \u201cImprovement of R&amp;D&amp;I capacities and infrastructures in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector in the Canary Islands and Senegal\u201d<\/strong> is co-financed by the <strong>INTERREG Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands Territorial Cooperation Program (MAC) 2014-2020<\/strong> and its main objective is to promote excellence and applicability of scientific and technological activity in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector, contributing to the sustainable development of the Canary Islands and Senegal regions.<\/p>\n<p>This recognition and the participation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maclabpv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MACLAB-PV project<\/a> in this international event of reference in Africa, is a milestone for its international visibility and has allowed the establishment of contacts with relevant actors in the sector and with other R&amp;D Centers, as well as the reinforcement of the capacities of the Senegalese technicians and researchers of the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The project was presented as a good practice at the Sustainable Mobility and Climate Week 2022 in Dakar (Senegal) and has been published on the Climate Chance portal&#8217;s virtual Climate Action Map.
