A total of 13 students from Cape Verde will carry out their internships in the Renewable Energies, Engineering and Environment Areas of ITER and in Involcan within the framework of this international interuniversity master of the universities. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico y de Energ\u00edas Renovables (ITER), has received this week the first students from Cape Verde to carry out their internships within the framework of the \u201cInternational Interuniversity Master in Energy Decarbonization in Emerging Countries\u201d.<\/p>\n

This collaboration is the result of the agreement signed between the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV), the University of La Laguna (ULL), the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, through the External Action Area, and ITER, whose objective is to promote the implementation of this international interuniversity degree, organized by both universities, and to provide students with practical knowledge applied in the field of renewable energies, which will be developed in ITER’s facilities.<\/p>\n

This week, the first group of students of a total of 13 who will carry out their internship in the entity in three blocks, from January 30 to June 23, 2023, was received. This is the first group of Cape Verdean students of this international degree, who are studying the second and last year of the Master’s Degree, all of them being professionals from the public and private electricity sector in Cape Verde, from renewable energy and industrial maintenance companies, engineering companies and from the secondary education sector in Cape Verde, among others. <\/p>\n

The internships will have a total duration of 11 weeks, and they can be taken totally in classroom at ITER, or at least 6 weeks in classroom and 5 weeks in telematic modality with their tutors from their country of origin. According to the interests of the students and the subjects studied in the Master, the 13 students will be distributed for the development of their internships in the different departments of the Renewable Energies, Engineering and Environment Areas of ITER, and in the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan). Some of these students will be tutored by research staff of the MACLAB-PV project<\/a> and will carry out tasks related to the R+D lines of this project. <\/p>\n

The objective of this internship program is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom to a real working environment, gaining valuable practical experience in the field of technology applied to different renewable energies. In addition, it will allow students to establish connections with researchers and professionals in the sector, which can be very useful for their future professional development. <\/p>\n

About the Master<\/strong><\/p>\n

The International Inter-University Master’s Degree in Energy Decarbonization in Emerging Countries is a degree of the University of La Laguna, but official in the Cape Verdean institution, having been approved by the corresponding national evaluation agency. It has a total of 28 people enrolled, of which 26 are from Cape Verde and the remaining two from the Canary Islands. The Cabildo of Tenerife finances this postgraduate course with 130,000 euros, corresponding to two annual payments of 65,000 euros each. <\/p>\n

This higher university course, pioneer in its international condition between two universities, includes three international university expert degrees previously taken: one in Technology for Electrical Decarbonization<\/em>, a second one in Electrical and Fuel Decarbonization<\/em> and a third one in Regulation and Energy Integration in Insular Systems and Emerging Countries<\/em>. Thus, the Master’s degree is obtained after studying these three experts and 30 credits in this last degree, divided between practical training that is developed in ITER, training in project management and the Final Degree Project. <\/p>\n
