It is worth noting that it was present in the top500 list of the most powerful supercomputers in the world, ranking 138th in the November 2013 list. <\/p>\n<p>For the implementation of this infrastructure, ITER has received a total of 8.5 million euros in the framework of the INNPLANTA program of the Ministry of Innovation and Science, charged to FEDER funds for the acquisition of scientific-technological infrastructures for R+D+i.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-37468\" src=\"https:\/\/\u200bwww.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"534\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933-150x75.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933-450x225.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0933.jpg 1100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Teide HPC is a general-purpose high-performance computing infrastructure with the following features:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"15\" data-lineheight=\"45px\">Computation<\/h3>\n<p>Three types of computing platforms are available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1028-node <strong>Sandy Bridge platforms<\/strong> with two Intel Xeon E5-2670 processors 32 GB \/ 64 GB of memory<\/li>\n<li>72-node <strong>Ivy Bridge platforms<\/strong> with two Intel Xeon E5-2670v2 processors 32 GB of memory<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fat nodes<\/strong>, 3 nodes with four Intel Xeon E5-4620 processors 256 GB of memory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"15\" data-lineheight=\"45px\">Storage<\/h3>\n<p>NetApp storage with a capacity of 2.1 PB net, configured in cluster format with all elements redundant to deal with possible hardware failures, with global spare disks.<\/p>\n<p>Lustre parallel storage will also be available for applications requiring a high number of I\/O operations.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-37466\" src=\"https:\/\/\u200bwww.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"536\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948-150x75.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948-450x225.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.iter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/DSC_0948.jpg 1100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 536px) 100vw, 536px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"15\" data-lineheight=\"45px\">Web<\/h3>\n<p>Teide-HPC has a network topology where four specific purpose networks are defined. A dedicated storage network, a dedicated management network, an out of band network and a low latency Infiniband QDR network at 40Gbps for computation. <\/p>\n<p>As security measures, TeideHPC has IPSec tunnels, VPN connections and the possibility of establishing private VLANs for its clients.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"15\" data-lineheight=\"45px\">Connectivity<\/h3>\n<p>TeideHPC connects to the Internet through the Spanish academic and research network, RedIris, via a 10 Gb link.
