Visit the Web page of the Bioclimatic Houses
The bioclimatic houses of the Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies have already opened its doors for everyone interested in spending a few days.
In order to make the information available for everyone, ITER´s Bioclimatic Houses have now their own website in three languages (English, Spanish and German), a direct access to more detailed information about the project and the idea of being an energy self-sufficient complex with ZERO emissions of C02.
ITER´s Bioclimatic Houses website, http://casas.iter.es, has all the information about the staying conditions of the housings, the services available and the way to make the reservations.
The special characteristic of this complex, which has been conceived as a laboratory for different bioclimatic techniques and integration of renewable energy in buildings, is that it is open to the public as an alternative accommodation; so that anyone can participate in the experience of inhabiting one of these houses.
The Bioclimatic houses are located in ITER´s facilities and are the result of a long project that started with the International Contest of 25 Bioclimatic Houses for the Island of Tenerife. These houses were inaugurated in March and since early November are offered as short term accommodation. The main objective of these stays is to make a real analysis of the thermal and energy performance of the houses, as well as to help promote a more sustainable development based on energy efficient buildings.
The houses, self-sufficient in terms of energy through the use of photovoltaic and thermal systems, are monitored for studying the bioclimatic techniques and identify those that are more efficient. Besides this technical aspect, the project aims to disseminate these techniques and the integration of renewable energy in architecture, among specialist and general population.
