ITER’s and TVE Canary Islands´s bet to contribute to an increase in the society’s awareness of the relation existing between Humanity and Planet Earth.

A new edition of the program TELEPLANETA returns in October to the gridiron of the Spanish Television (TVE) to contribute in raising awareness about the impact that the natural risks exercise on the communities with the purpose of stimulating the promotion of the scientific culture and innovation along with contributing to the reduction of the natural risks. TELEPLANETA is a bet of the Spanish Television (TVE) in Canaries and of the Technological Institute and of Renewable Energies (ITER), organism dependent of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, being co-financed by the Spanish Foundation for the Science and the Technology (FECYT), organism dependent on the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN).

TELEPLANETA, which is led by ITER’s geologist David Calvo, is a product elaborated entirely in the Canary Islands for the world thanks to its broadcast through the channel “Canal 24 hours” of TVE. Its main purpose is to become part of the channel’s steady programs classified by RTVE as of “public service" that will help raise the society’s awareness of the existing relation between Humanity and Planet Earth.

The new edition of TELEPLANETA is broadcasted every Saturday at 9:45 a.m. (Canary Islands time zone) through “Canal 24 hours” and presents a new format which now lasts 12 minutes, a big change, taking into account the previous one lasted 4 minutes.

Regarding its content, TELEPLANETA’s new edition includes two additional reports besides the weekly one about the most important natural dangers happened in the world during the last 7 days. The first report, which is emitted after the summary of the week, will be about the anniversary of a specific natural event that has taken place in history or to the celebration of one of the numerous World or International Days regarding Humanity and Planet Earth. The second report will have a more educational and divulgate character about the great diversity of natural processes and human activities that take place in our planet, and how society should improve and optimize their management in order to achieve a balanced and sustainable future which increases the quality of life and safeguards the planetary dynamics.
