Students of the Engineering Master of the University of La Laguna visited ITER’s facilities on 22nd April as part of their training activities.

This visit is of great interest for the students since ITER hosts, among other infrastructure, the Development and Innovation Excellence Centre (CEDeI), which provides excellent internship possibilities for these students.

The tour was guided by the Director of ITER’s Technology Area, Jesús Rodríguez Alamo, and the technician Jonatan Felipe, who showed some of the most important facilities of the institute and explained the different activities that are carried out in them.

Among ITER’s facilities, students could visit the D-Alix datacenter (http://www.d-alix.com/), which hosts a wide range of high-availability housing services and a competitive communications environment that prioritizes the following concepts as fundamental features of an information technologies and communications (ITC).

Students could also access the supercomputer Teide-HPC (http://teidehpc.iter.es/), the second most powerful in Spain that offers researchers, companies and research centers a high-process capacity to improve and extend both the national and international scope of their researches.

The visit is positively valued by the teachers involved in the organization of this activity, since it allows students to discover some of the most important ICT resources available in the Canary Island, which use is possible with the knowledge acquired during their academic training.
